Temporary measure for spouses and children of work permit holders

In order to address labour shortage, starting January 30, 2023, the Federal government will put in place a 2-year temporary measure that will expand the eligibility to work in Canada of spouses and working-age dependent children of most work permit holders at all skills levels.

Prior to this measure, spouses were only eligible for a work permit if the principal applicant was working in a high-skill occupation.
